How ECU remapping works on a petrol Jaguar S-type
Factory petrol calibrations leave margin for poor fuel and hot climates. A remap tunes the ignition, fuelling and boost maps to make better use of that margin, which shows up as livelier throttle response and stronger acceleration.
How the Jaguar S-Type 3.0 V6 compares
Of the 5 petrol S-type engines in our data, this one comes 4th for power gain, which is 8 bhp below the S-type petrol average of 33 bhp.
Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 25 bhp and 55 Nm sits below that benchmark.
